Thomas Unger joined Lindsay Goldberg Vogel on February 1, 2017 as Managing Partner and serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Schur Flexibles Group.
During his career, Thomas Unger worked for five years as Chief Financial Officer for VAW Aluminium AG, where he was actively involved in acquisitions in Asia and Australia and in the takeover of Reynolds Europe. In 2002 he joined Metro AG as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2008. In this position, he was responsible for the Media Markt and Saturn electronic stores, the Kaufhof department store chain and the real estate business of the group. Furthermore, Mr. Unger restructured the financing of Metro AG, played a central role in the acquisition of Wal-Mart Germany and was responsible for the global restructuring program "Shape". From 2011 to 2015, he was Chief Executive Officer of Constantia Flexibles Group, a portfolio company of OEP (JP Morgan). Mr. Unger restructured the company, doubled revenues to almost € 2 billion, with his team. He improved the firm’s profitability and then successfully sold the company to another private equity fund.
Thomas Unger holds a Master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.
