Prof. Dr. Dieter H. Vogel
Prof. Dr. Dieter H. Vogel is founder and Chairman of Lindsay Goldberg Vogel. He also serves as non-executive Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Klöckner & Co SE and as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VDM Metals GmbH. Prof. Vogel is Member of the Shareholders' Committee of Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft and also Member of the Supervisory Boards of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG and denkwerk GmbH. Furthermore, Prof. Vogel is Deputy Chairman of the Karl-Schiller Foundation and Chairman of the Ursula und Dieter Vogel Foundation.
Prof. Vogel has more than 30 years of experience as a business leader and has been actively involved in over 150 acquisitions. His business tenure evolved from Bertelsmann AG and British American Tobacco plc to the CEO position at Thyssen AG, a conglomerate with a turnover of nearly € 20 billion. Upon the request of the German Federal Government, Prof. Vogel became the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Deutsche Bahn AG (the German railroad company) from 1999 to 2001 and turned around mobilcom AG (a telecom service provider supported by a federal grant) from 2002 to 2006. Since 1999 Prof. Vogel has worked in Private Equity, exclusively advising Lindsay Goldberg and its predecessors.
In 2002, Prof. Vogel wrote a successful book on Mergers & Acquisitions and he frequently speaks and writes on Private Equity and Corporate Governance issues.
Prof. Vogel holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt and a doctoral degree from the Technical University of Munich.
